How Does Pay Impact All Employees And The Organization?
Recently, employee pay has become a major concern in the news media. This is especially true as it involves equality between the sexes. The argument has been that women who perform the same type of work as men should be compensated comparably. In this discussion you will consider the motivating value of pay equity and pay expectancy for employees. You will explore the factors that contribute to those concerns and consider whether the concerns are valid.
For your initial post, address the following:
a) Reflect on what you hear in the news media concerning pay inequity. Share a link to an article or news clip with a recent example.
b) Do you think pay inequality is still as big of a problem in today's work environment as we seem to be hearing? Provide evidence to support your rationale.
c) What impact, if any, do you think pay inequality has on the cost of doing business in an organization?
Respond to at least two of your peers by assessing the potential benefits of leveling the playing field of pay equality in the specific examples your peers shared. Expand the discussion about the example they shared by evaluating the importance of ensuring the compensation and pay structure is fair for all employees regardless of their gender, race, ethnic background, or religion. Be willing to challenge each other.
