Watch both videos posted in the module and review the types of nonverbal communication to gain some good, visual insight about these behaviors.
A. Give one example of a situation in which nonverbal communication was misinterpreted in a cultural situation (it can be within the U.S. or another country). It can be a situation you experienced or witnessed, or it can be something you saw on the news such as with a politician or celebrity. Something else to find a situation is to Google it to search for videos...there are surprisingly a lot out there such as the time in 2009 when Barack Obama was criticized for bowing "too low" to Saudi King Abdullah when visiting Saudi Arabia as it was seen by some as submitting, and Americans are not expected to bow to other countries royalty (although most do to be respectful, but it is usually a slight bow); or the time in 2018 while in England as a guest of the Queen, Donald Trump walked ahead of Her Majesty when royal etiquette dictates that it is inappropriate to walk in front of the Queen and it was seen as disrespectful.
B. Explain the NVC - what was seen and what was the effect; and then explain what should have been done to better understanding of the situation.
