What happens when you inhibit carbonic anhydrase

What happens when you inhibit carbonic anhydrase? Does Carbon dioxide build up increasing pco2 in the red blood cell forcing co2 out into plasma and binding to hemoglobin (decreasing hemoglobin's affinity for oxygen). Does this cause respiratory acidosis?
