1) An overview of the health-related issue specific to the under-represented group- make sure you select an issue for which disparities exist. Describe the disparity and outline the problem. Is the problem new or has this issue been a problem for a longer period of time? What are the implications/outcomes of the problem (e.g., emotional, physical, and economic costs to self or society)?
1) What is the prevalence of the problem in the underrepresented group or in the U.S?
2) What factors contribute to the problem for the specific group? What are the individual, social, economic, and environmental factors that contribute to the problem? If there are disparities in access to resources that contribute to the issue, include those here too.
3) Propose solutions to eliminating the disparity. What would you do to improve the health outcomes of the under-represented group?
