1. Many films naturalize female antagonism showing us women who face each other for the attention of a man or with the aim of holding power. However, in this film the women support and care for each other. What examples of female solidarity would you highlight?
2. Many feminist critics (Luce Irigaray) conceptualize the home (the house) as a prison where the woman sees her freedom restricted. How is Carmen's home represented in this film? To answer this question, think about what Carmen, her daughter, and her neighbor are doing in the kitchen.
3. At one point in the film, Carmen betrays her classmates who always supported her in her dream of becoming an older sister. What is her betrayal? Why do you think Carmen behaves this way and in the end she changes her mind?
4. The director declared that she also tried to apply the female solidarity shown in the story to her reality, and in particular, to the process of creating the film. How do you think women in the film industry can show solidarity with their fellow professionals? And women in general?
