What elements do you see of realism

Problem

George Eliot has stated her intention to make Silas Marner a "faithful account" of people and things, and to give it a "realistic treatment." Yet she also has stated that the novel was inspired by an early childhood memory, like a "legendary tale." To what extent is Silas Marner a "realist novel" (as discussed in lecture), and to what extent is it more of a "legendary tale" or even a "fairy-tale"? What elements do you see of realism? What elements are more "fairy-tale-like"? Be sure to include specific details and/or passages to support your opinion. The answer should be about two hundreds to three hundreds words.
