Here is a guideline for the research paper.
Title
I. State sources titles and authors (one paragraph)
a. Begin with sentences citing source authors and main ideas.
b. Summarize main ideas/findings/history
c. State research quesiton
d. End with 3 part thesis statement
II. Body – Several paragraphs of support for thesis statement, from multiple authors and sources. Paragraphs should begin with a topic sentence and end with a concluding sentence that wraps up/ties up the topic sentence with the entire paragraph
Paragraph with objections and rebuttals. Include in your paper arguments and objections of people who disagree with your claim
III. Concluding paragraph – restate thesis, review main supporting ideas, call to action
Avoid large block quotations and use this exercise as an opportunity to refine your ability to weave together short quotations, paraphrases and your own prose.
