Paper Assignment
Write a one-page (1.5-2.0) spaced paper, which answers each of the following two questions about Aristotle's The Nicomachean Ethics:
1. What does Aristotle say regarding how character is acquired? Explain the role of habituation in this process, including with what habituation begins.
2. Aristotle begins Book II, chapter 2, with "...the present inquiry does not aim at theoretical knowledge like the others...." (24) If not, then state very briefly what is the aim or goal of Aristotle's ethical inquiry.
Present your answers to each of the two questions within a single paper of one page in length. If you "end up" with more than 1 page, I suggest you revise again so that the paper can be acceptable. No cover pages, simply put your name on the top of the page.
You may place any references from course texts in parentheses, e.g., (NE36) for p. 36 of The Nicomachean Ethics. All other uses of sources (including electronic sources) of the thoughts of others, including summarizing, restating or paraphrasing, as well as directly quoting, must be
acknowledged by footnotes.
