Many clinicians will argue, privately, that an exact diagnosis is not necessary as long as it is billable. Read pages 5-25 of your DSM-5 and my power point presentation on changes to the the DSM-5 and discuss, exactly, what a diagnosis is. What does a diagnosis mean for a clinician (an LPC)? What does it inform? What does a diagnosis mean for the client?
