Using the internet, a tourist information centre, or some other source, find promotional information for a planned event or festival in one of the following places: Oamaru, Taupo, or Tauranga (all New Zealand). This could be a music event, sporting event, cultural festival, wine festival, etc. Include in your journal the link and/or a screen shot ("Print Screen") for online material you have found about this event (to be appended to your Reading Journal).
Summarise in a paragraph the nature of the event and then answer the following questions:
1. What do you think would be the main reasons for hosting this event? Are they economic, social, cultural or political reasons, or a combination? Explain your answer.
2. Who do you think are the audience for this event? (e.g., locals/day trippers/tourists?Age/gender of audience?). Explain your answer.
Consider: 1. Thinking about the event you've outlined above, what do you see as being some of the potentially positive and negative impacts of this specific event?
2. How could the organizers optimize the positive impacts of this event? How could they minimize the negative impacts of this event?
