Imagine a world with no patent laws. In a one-page paper, what do you think that would mean for research and development of new products such as consumer goods, pharmaceutical drugs, or any other example you may want to discuss.
Essentially, are you optimistic that there would be more scientific progress once there are fewer lawyers involved, or pessimistic that there will be less investment in a world where every idea may be stolen?
