In this module and others, we see the influence of identifiable individuals, usually kings or queens, on trends in fashion and architecture. We also see some of the more collective ways that trends appear in new places through immigration or trade contacts. What do you think is the relative importance of individuals and more anonymous collective groups for determining what styles characterize an era? Is it any different now than it has been historically?
