What do you think i said as to someone who was listening

Problem

I had an interesting thing happen when I was supervising a mental health counseling practicum student. The individual was working with a 14 year old boy who what presenting with anger management issues. I was observing the session from another room while the counseling student had an ear bud in where I could communicate with him during the session to help guide him. The counseling student had a good idea of asking the teenager to fill out a list that measured his responses to situations (what would make him lose his temper). When the counseling student handed the teenager the list, the teen just sat and stared sort of blankly at it rather than filling it out.

• What do you think I said as to someone who was listening? Also-what do you think was happening with the teenager during this situation?
• How might you respond and how does this apply to oral communication skills
