As you probably know by now, the big reveal about the Nacirema is that the article is actually all about "Americans." (In other words, the author was referencing the dominant culture in the U.S. in the 1950s.) What was it like to read about Americans depicted in this way? Why do you think the author wrote this article? What do you think he was hoping to demonstrate? What can we learn about trying to represent another cultural group and their beliefs, meanings, and practices from this article?
