Write a 700-word reflection paper (Times New Roman, font 12, double-spaced, 1" margin) in response to one of the topics covered in class you can choose any one topic from the list below:
1. Does replacing the terms "First/Third World" with "Global North/South" add any analytical depth to development discourse? Or is it simply a reproduction of the past relationship between developed-developing, hidden behind semantics.
2. What do you think about food aid rejection in the face of famine and starvation, as was the case in Zambia in the early 2000s. Was the government right in rejecting the GM grain provided by the US?
3. Should aid be free of politics? Isn't it also a right of donor countries to look out for their own interests while giving aid? If not, is there such a thing as selfless aid, or will donor countries always expect preferential treatment by recipient countries (in terms of commerce/resources access/military alliances, etc.)?
