• One of the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) five core competencies is a need for transparency for sharing of information. What is one HIPAA implication that we need to consider as we try to achieve this sharing?
• Think about a time when you moved residences. Communicating your new contact information to family, friends, and all the other people and businesses that send you surface mail, e-mail, or phone calls takes a lot of time and attention to detail. Mistakes can and do happen. How might the idea of interoperability reduce time and the risk of errors in a change of residence?
• What do you do at home to protect your information privacy? Why is this important to you or why is it not important?
