Read Article III of the U.S. Constitution. What did you learn about the federal judicial system and/or judges? Do you agree with how federal judges and justices are chosen? If so, why? If not, why not or how would you change the present system? Some say that one of the greatest powers wielded by a U.S. president is to appoint a U.S. Supreme Court justice. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain your answer.
ALSO: Go to the Ballotpedia website, read the article on "Judicial selection in the states," and review the five methods mentioned by which judges are appointed in our nation. Which method to you believe to be the "most fair" and why? Which method does Virginia utilize? Is this common? Were you aware of this before this discussion? What are your thoughts about this?
