But Christianity was the dominant faith in the American colonies/early U.S., so Madison would primarily focus on this faith. There were a few other religions such as Judaism and Islam (primarily among enslaved Africans). However, both of these faiths were fairly small at this time, so this would help to explain why Madison did not include them in his document.
