After watching the c-span video link of Justice Scalia's conception of separation of powers, and reading chapter 2 in your text answer the following questions.
1) What did Justice Scalia mean by saying our bill of rights are just words on paper?
2) What actually guarantees the rights written out for us in the bill of rights?
3) Explain the importance of separation of powers. What does it mean? And what does separation of power look like in our government?
4) Could you say that America has a unique structure with in our political system from other democracies?
5) Sometimes Americans can get frustrated with their government. You may hear people complain that it takes so long for different factions to come to agreement on creating or amending laws. After watching this video can you see a benefit to what we refer to as American gridlock (a political stalemate)? Explain.
