Problem: Snowman Puppet
Blaine is a student teacher and was pleased to be invited to a classroom winter holiday party. Blaine's cupcake had a small, inch and half high snowman decoration. Other cupcakes had trees, wreaths, menorahs, and snowflakes but he was served the only one with a snowman. He slipped the small decoration on his little finger and playfully uttered, "Hello everyone, I'm Snowy the Snowman." Every child near was interested and wanted to talk to Snowy. Blaine could not believe such a tiny finger puppet could hold their attention. The activity went on until all who wanted to talk to Snowy did so. Blaine was amazed at the young children's ability to so quickly accept the fantasy. He then remembered that children don't seem to put together the differences in the various snowman representations they see: the hat, carrot nose, coal smiley face, and snowball-shaped body seem to be enough.
