Considering these Indian Act provisions, and notably since this history is not that long ago, as well as the fact that the Indian Act is still in place-regulating "Indian" "reserves" and identities-can you think of why this knowledge might be important for criminal justice personnel to know as they go about their daily duties? What could criminal justice personnel do that that would incorporate more sensitively to the fact that we still have this racist piece of legislation in place?
