A private dispute can occur with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). PCI DSS is established through a contract between card companies and organizations. Card companies set security standards for organizations to protect the data of card transactions and storage. If organizations fail to operate within standards, contractually organizations are to pay fines. PCI standards are not laws, if organizations fail to meet standards there will be no legal repercussion. (John & Easttom, 2020)
