Discussion: Vietnam and Civil Rights

A. For your last regular web-based assignment for the class, read text Chapter 29 and watch: "America in the 20th Century: The Civil Rights Movement," "Vietnam" (Media Rich Communications, in America in the 20th Century, 10), and "The Sixties in America."

B. For each topic (1950s and '60s Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, and the Counter-Culture Revolution of the 1960s) discuss how these events and movements challenged the status quo in the United States, or, in the case of Vietnam, continued Cold War policies of earlier eras. Historians have argued that this was a period of "coming apart." Was it? Find two newspaper articles for each topic that demonstrate the major controversies associated with each. What changed in US domestic and foreign policy during this tumultuous period?

The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
