A student nurse is assisting a nurse practitioner in a clinic. The student nurse is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, setting up the examination room, assisting with the exams, and securing specimens for the lab. One of the patients is a 4-year-old who requires a physical examination for preschool. The student notices that the patient is quiet, clings to his parent, and is hesitant to enter the examination area.
