Waste Land Movie Review Prompt The movie Waste Land follows artist Vik Muniz as he returns to his native Rio de Janeiro to carry out an art project in Jardim Gramacho, the world's largest land?ll. Muniz was a poor boy from Rio, and his idea is to help the garbage pickers create salable art to raise funds to improve their lives. We get to know the six people who become the major focus of the project, and follow them through the creative process to the sale of their art, and then on brie?y to see how their lives are affected. The ?lm raises many important questions about class, work, social services, and more; but our focus for this class is the relationships among art, culture, and social change.
