However, on the other hand, e-commerce has been one of the few bright spots in the overall economy, with "The first quarter 2022 e-commerce estimate increased 6.6 percent (±1.1%) from the first quarter of 2021 while total retail sales increased 10.9 percent (±0.4%) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the first quarter of 2022 accounted for 14.3 percent of total sales."*

Other expectations for Assignment #1 Article Summary:

In the first paragraph of your article summary, you must let your readers know what they are about to experience or inform them that they are about to read a summary of an article. To deliver this message to them, you must list the following four pieces of information:

1. source origin (i.e., The Economist)

2. Issue or date of that article published (i.e., August 27, 2015)

3. author name (i.e., Cliff Edwards; also, there are cases that no author's name listed for an article, then you should state the fact as it is)

4. article title (i.e., "Marketing in the digital age A brand new game")

Lastly, you should reference your chosen article at the end of your article summary again, either by providing a web link to that article or providing a copy of that article in a separate file. Because your instructor must read your chosen article first before reviewing your article summary.
