Looking at each, there is clearly a tension between the two. For example, the Mexico New York School District held a fund raiser selling bricks that could be engraved.

Some members of the community purchased bricks and had the following engraved "Jesus Saves" and "Jesus is Lord." The bricks were included in a walkway in front of the school.

The bricks were removed and a lawsuit was brought by citizens who argued that the removal of the bricks violated the free excercise clause. Those who argued the bricks should be removed argued that the placement of the bricks in the walkway violated the establishment clause.

Questions:

[b] What arguments or facts would the citizens seeking to have the bricks stay advance?

[c] Who do you think will win, and why? [Please explain fully].
