Robotics have been used in manufacturing for over 50 years. The first robots were used to perform repetitive tasks or tasks that were dangerous for humans. These first robots were not "intelligent" in the sense presented in this class. Present day robots use sensors (vision, touch, RADAR, etc) to evaluate their surroundings and react accordingly.
