Problem
As company secretary of small-to- medium-enterprise trading in securities as a brokerage company. The CEO has it that reliable information is an important aspect to the company's daily operation in providing quality financial and securities services to the clients. The CEO has noted that many of the employees use the company's e-mail system for private purposes during office hours. He is worried that abuse of the e-mail system will lower work productivity, company security and waste corporate resources.
In trying to strengthen the company's financial services in a competitive market, the CEO intends to invest in new information technology development. The CEO in a recent webinar has heard about knowledge management advances but he wonders about the difficulties of implementing this within the company's existing IT structure.
Task
a) What are your recommendations regarding the IT policy to manage the above issues, along with information security in securities brokerage industry?
b) Advice the chief operations manager of any compliance issues that needs to be followed in this regard.
