At the beginning of the school year, you were notified that Jose's family was involved with Child Protective Services (CPS) due to several domestic violence incidents with the mother as well as two physical altercations with Jose. The father was ordered to live in a separate residence from the family, which has caused an extreme economic impact on the mother and children.
While none of the children want to talk in depth about the abuse and domestic violence, Jose knows that you are aware of the situation and he has refused ongoing counseling services at this time. Recently, Jose told you that the father has moved back into the home, which has helped ease some of the financial strain. He has begged you not to say anything or contact CPS.
