Assignment
These essays can be written in several different ways. However, the objective of this writing exercise is to reflect on your current thoughts and beliefs about human sexuality. Whether you write about your thoughts related to class discussions, activities, and presentations or focus more on the readings, the most important part of this assignment is to start thinking critically about how sexuality affects everyone's lived experience, especially yours! Please feel free to posit questions you'd like discussed throughout the semester and/or concerns you have about sensitive topics or controversial issues that may arise. Finally, use these pages to start exploring your capital "T" truths (your personal Truth) and small "t" (subjective truth) truths about gender, sex, bodies, agency, relationships, trauma, pleasure, behavior, orientation, and identity.
Questions to get you started:
-Has either class discussion or readings challenged you socially, emotionally, or culturally? If so, how? What, so far, has caught your attention the most?
- What are your current beliefs about sex and sexuality? Does any of the material covered up until this point conflict with your beliefs?
- Have any of the readings or activities left you with additional questions?
- How does it feel to be talking about sex and sexuality in a classroom full of your peers?
- What did you expect this course to be like? Is it different from your expectations?
