• Using examples, explain the difference between a private problem and a public issue. When we think about the crisis of obesity, the suggested source of the problem involves private problems: individuals "eat too much fast food" and "don't exercise enough." Design a research question that would result in understanding widespread obesity as a public issue rather than as a series of individual, private problems.
