What are the steps in the planning process

Discuss the following:

1. How will you meet the organizational goals, while remembering to act ethical and in a manner that will meet the organizational goals.

2. What are the steps in the planning process? Which step is the most crucial? Why?

3. There are many industries where it is mandated that some money must go back in to the community. Many professional athletes are expected to give back as part of their contracts and many businesses do it, not because they believe it is good, but because they know someone is watching.

So does it matter? Does it matter if the money hungry organization gives back to try and give an image that they believe will help them make more money?

There are types of philosophical beliefs, however the two that I always remember are Utilitarian and Deontological.

Utilitarian: The Ends Justify the Means. I.e. it does not matter what you do as long as in the end it is good?

Deontological: The journey defines the destination. Meaning it does not matter what happens in the end, it is how you got there that matters.

In business, there is often a Utilitarian approach, which is what causes many of the issues that the text has stated about unethical behavior. Sometime, somewhere a person decided, "I can skirt the rules as long as in the end I am successful." Whether this is right or wrong is an individual choice, but for this post.

How can a company's MISSION Statement determine which of these philosophies is followed?
