Discussion Post: Network Security Devices
Security architecture plays a vital role in securing the network infrastructure of an organization. The biggest challenge of implementing an effective security architecture is the changing threat landscape. This requires a change in mindset, as well as a repurposing of many devices.
Review the article Enterprise Security Architecture-A Top-down Approach. Once you have reviewed the article, you will be prepared to create your original post. (NOTE: Discussion responses should be from the perspective of a system administrator.)
In your original post, answer the following:
a) Discuss how the changing threat landscape affects our classic perimeter devices, such as firewalls, IDSes, and IPSes.
b) How would you utilize different network security devices for the organization?
c) What are the ramifications of the "encrypt everything" mindset for devices such as Network Intrusion Detection Systems?
