Assignment task:
The "One Company's Secret Weapon for Innovation video" deep dive into creating a new shopping cart. The IDEO group was able to identify the problems with the old shopping cart by creating a social issue experiment by interviewing the store owners and the shoppers. Some of the problems that were able to gather from the interview are the call for safety for kids, shopping cart theft, and The wind can bring shopping carts everywhere in the parking lot.
Some of the criteria for problem-solving were the group value teamwork by encouraging each individual opinions, observations, and ideas without any judgemental. The group was open-minded to listen and adapt to change things of other people's comments.
In my opinion, I think many of the steps shown in the video analyze the implementation of brainstorming and other problem-solving skills.
Many of the practices shown in the video are now considered best practices in implementing brainstorming and other aspects of the design process. The IDEO video also looks at the culture and its impact on an organization's capacity for surviving innovation.
