Mark, aged 22, admitted to hospital with the complaints of acute exacerbation of asthma. Mark has a past medical history of Asthma, recurrent lower respiratory tract infection and testicular torsion which was surgically corrected at the age of 11. Mark has been diagnosed with Asthma since he turned 16. Mark was on a preventer inhaler (Symbicort) and Ventolin to be taken when he has asthma attacks. Mark commenced smoking 2 years ago due to peer pressure. Mark is alert and oriented with GCS 15/15. He is haemodynamically stable. He lives with his parents and is currently enrolled into TAFE for bricklaying course. His classes were missed multiple times due to respiratory tract infections and asthma exacerbations.
