Essay: Annotated Bibliography and Proposal

The last essay assignment will consist of two parts: the annotated bibliography and the proposal essay.

Part 1: The Annotated Bibliography Assignment

An annotated bibliography includes citation information and a summary and evaluation for each of the sources used for researching a topic. Thus, the annotated bibliography is the research component of your proposal essay.

For this assignment, you will need to create an annotated bibliography that consists of at least three (3) sources. Each of the sources should support the topic you will be writing about in your proposal essay.

For each of the sources you select for this assignment, you should have four parts: source citation information, a summary of the source, an evaluation of the source, and a reflection.

A guide to writing annotated bibliographies is located here (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..

Each section is explained in detail below:

Source Citation: This is the source information in MLA format.

Summary Section: What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say?

Evaluation/Assessment: Is it a useful source? Is the information reliable? What is the goal of this source? Check it with your Source Evaluation Checklist

Reflection: Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your paper? Has it changed how you think about your topic?

Part 2: The Proposal Essay

For this assignment, please write a proposal essay that presents your solution to one of San Antonio's community problems. Please review the presentation in Canvas for a step-by-step process on how to create a proposal. A guide to writing a proposal is located here (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Include information about how you plan to fund your solution.
Include relevant support from at least three (3) reliable sources. Remember that the source material that you use will most likely come from the sources you included in your annotated bibliography assignment.
Use in-text citation and include a mandatory Works Cited page.
Address anticipated objections.
Be sure to include a call to action.
