What are the lessons to learn if any use journal articles

Assignment

Answer the following question in 5 pages double space: Take any East Asian Economy (one country of your choice from South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong) and trace its path of industrialization (as is being discussed in class from Chapters 9 and 10 of the textbook) and compare it with the industrialization experience of a large Latin American large economy or that of the Indian economy. What are the lessons to learn, if any? (Use journal articles from JSTOR or other electronic databases like Econlit and books from the library to generate the required material for this short essay).

- Utilize at least 2 solid sources in addition to the text.

- Include differences in planning, state discipline, corruption, land reform, approach to "hard ISI", export orientation, global competitiveness, etc...

- Singapore and Hong Kong are city-states that have long had predominantly commercial rather than agricultural economies. So it is difficult to compare them with a country that attempted to make the transition from an agricultural base to industry / modernity (India, South Korea, Taiwan, and almost all of Latin America attempted the transition from agriculture to industry).

- The larger the country the easier it will be to find good well-written sources on it's industrialization efforts.
