Assignment -
Details of the task - What are the key benefits, challenges, risks and opportunities inherent in a Harm Minimisation model of professional practice?
Student must explore the history of the model, the underpinning theory, the Australian AOD agencies applying this model and the relationship between a Harm Min model & the YACVic Code of Practice.
Essay Structure -
a) Topic is clearly introduced.
b) Essay addresses question directly and emphasises key elements/themes.
c) Key terms are defined.
d) Body of essay is organised into paragraphs and uses evidence to support ideas/ arguments.
e) Essay within set word count +/- 10%. Conclusion briefly summarises main points.
Content Understanding -
a) Topic is explored skilfully paraphrasing or quoting other authors theories and practices.
b) Ideas are relevant and clearly related to the topic.
c) Ideas are discussed at an appropriate level of theoretical complexity and depth.
d) Ideas and conclusions are logical and directly linked to the topic.
Cohesive Writing -
a) Writing style is appropriate to the topic and consistently links ideas, sentences, and paragraphs.
b) Sentences are clear and complete; spelling, grammar and punctuation are accurate.
c) The order of ideas and paragraphs is logical and appropriate to essay topic and style
Referencing -
a) At least 5 different resources are cited including set readings or chapters, peer reviewed journal articles and text books including e-journals and e-books.
b) Non-academic websites should be used sparingly and may not be considered as a valid reference.
c) Accurate in-text referencing- Harvard Style.
d) Accurate reference list - Harvard Style.
e) Direct quotes and paraphrasing are accurate and blended into essay.
Context -
a) The essay appropriately reflects the theory and practice of contemporary youth word context.
