I. Law Enforcement Interactions. Many anti-Asian/Pacific American laws and events leave Asian/Pacific Americans with the view that law enforcement agencies are not user-friendly. What are the implications of this view for law enforcement? Suggest ways to counteract negative points of view.
II. Diversity among Asian/Pacific Americans. The Asian/Pacific American category comprises over 40 diverse ethnic and cultural groups. Which groups are you most likely to encounter in crime fighting and peacekeeping? Based on trends within your community, which groups do you anticipate encountering in your future work?
III. Excessive and Discriminatory Use of Force. Since the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the phrase, "The Ferguson Effect" (also known as "de-policing") has come into existence. Research this phrase, explain what it means, and explain the controversy that surrounds it.
