Purpose:
To allow students to begin to apply the knowledge and skills of the subject to a real world example. This assessment supports and relates to Learning Outcomes a, b, c and e found in the Subject Outline.
Topic:
Students are required to choose a case study located at the end of a chapter from the set text. You may choose any case study

Task Details:
After selecting and reading a case study of your choice (found in the set text), prepare a 2300 - 2500 word report, executive summary (not compulsory), table of contents, body (sub headings of questions answered, conclusions and recommendations analysing the issues in the case. Identify logistics management strategies that enabled the company to become successful or otherwise, as it could be an example of a failed company. You should also consider the questions which appear in a text box labelled "QUESTIONS" located near the case study. The questions are relevant to the case study and you may incorporate answering them into your report.
In your report you need to consider:
1. The fundamental reasons for success, with a comparison to another successful and an unsuccessful company?
2. How can the company maintain its competitive advantage?
3. Could this be suitable for other companies and if so explain why, if not explain why?
4. Discuss the concept of sustainability and its relevance to the company featured in the case study
Research
Students need to support their analysis with reference from the text and a minimum of eight (8) suitable, reliable, current academically acceptable sources - check with your tutor if unsure of the validity of sources.
Those seeking Credit or above grades should support their analysis with an increased number of reference sources. As 12 for credit and 15 for Distinction. This implies evidence of research is found within your work not merely the cutting pasting of references to pad out the submission.
Sources such as Wiki..., scribed.com, docstore.com, etc. are not considered acceptable sources and should not be use on such sources will result in a Fail grade.
