"The Debate over Re-Identification of Health Information: What do we risk?" By Daniel Barth-Jones in Health Affairs Blog or both

Your essay must include discussions about:

1) What are the big ethical challenges facing data science today?

2) What happened to Governor Weld of Massachusetts and his medical records in the mid-1990s? How could people's medical records be used unethically?

3) What is the Facebook scandal? Do you think the scandal is justified or overblown, i.e., having Facebook data used without our knowledge is something we have to be willing to put up with in order to use Facebook?

4) Do you think ethics should be enforced in data science? If so, how?

5) How can a SMU education in analytics and data science help you use your data science knowledge ethically?

Your essay must be at least 1,500 words in Times New Roman 12pt double-spaced with 1-inch margin (about 6 pages). It must look professional and include, in this order:

- a cover page with SMU logo, title, name of student
- all pages numbered after cover page
- executive summary
- table of contents
- sections with headers, subsections with headers for each of the important ideas.
- conclusions
- references.

The report presentation counts for 0.5pt, including the use of grammatically correct sentences free of typos.

Your report will be graded on whether you summarized the resources above (one per bullet point), addressed the questions above, defended your ideas convincingly, and wrote a high-quality report (no typos, no grammar mistakes) and with the main ideas presented as a coherent well-structured argument.
