Assignment: Public-Private Partnerships
The public/private partnership is a vital component of our nation's overall homeland security efforts. The various ways in which government can acquire much needed participation and support from the private sector will serve as a primary focus this week.
1. On page 21 of the BENS Issue Paper, Private Partnerships, Public Safety, six key takeaways are offered regarding what is needed to develop purposeful public-private partnerships. For this discussion, select one of these to focus upon, its potential impact upon homeland security, and how it could be positively addressed at the federal, state or local level.
2. An example of a successful community partnership is the "Business Partners Against Terrorism" (BPAT) program developed by the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office. Review the BPAT video and offer the following: What are the essential ingredients which have led to the success of the BPAT program? Conversely, what deficiencies do you feel are present or could develop in the future?
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
