This discussion will allow you to introduce a genetics topic to the class. The theme of this discussion is Genetics and Living Organisms. You can pick anything that is controlled by genetics. It can be a disease, a mutation, or quality of living organisms. It doesn't have to be about humans or diseases specifically but I think most people are interested in those topics. (I personally am interested in the genetics of plant breeding of agricultural crops.)

I. Pick a genetic condition such as color blindness, sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, cancer, virus infections, Down's syndrome, etc. Anything that has a genetic component to it is OK. The list is endless but maybe think about something that potentially affects you, or your family, or your community. It doesn't have to be too personal but most people like to write about things they know from their own life.
II. Introduce the topic in enough detail so that the class can learn a bit from your point of view; what is this condition?, what causes it, who does it affect?, what are the effects of this condition? Are there treatments for this condition? (sometimes there aren't!) The length doesn't have to exceed 1-2 paragraphs, it's OK to be concise.
III. If this condition affects you or the people around you, you might want to mention that (although you don't have to!)
IV. You can use any resources from the internet, class work, or personal experiences but the idea is to concisely explain a genetic condition.
