Problem 1: What are the THREE distinct circulation systems in the human? List them and DESCRIBE them thoroughly. How are these circulatory systems connected? You may have to do some online research here.
Problem 2: What is perfusion? Why is it so important to homeostasis? Does your life depend on adequate perfusion?
Problem 3: Be able to describe ALL the components of arteries (several types) and veins (several types). What purpose do capillaries and capillary beds serve?
Problem 4: What is congestive heart failure and its effects on the pumping efficiency of the heart?
Problem 5: Trace a drop of blood from the inferior vena cava or superior vena cava through the heart, to the lungs, and to the entire body via the systemic circulation (from the ascending aorta).
Problem 6: What are the valves of the heart? How many are there? Where are these valves located? Why do veins have thin endothelial valves? What do they do? Are venous valves as strong as heart valves? Why or why not?
