Here is a scenario: Imagine you are a member of the Change Advisory Board at a medium-sized company that manufactures and sells athletic clothing products to retail chains (think Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc). An internal user has submitted a change request to add a reporting option to their system that will show all of the company's customers with outstanding financial balances. They need this to know when to hold shipments of new merchandise and when the chain's outstanding balances are too high or too old. The chains need to pay their bills before they will get any new shipments.
But the user did not provide a lot of details and that puts you in danger of not delivering something that they really want. So you need to contact the user and get more details.
What are the additional details that you need? Be specific on this and bulleted lists will probably work great. What specific questions do you have about this request? What additional details does the user need to provide? Your goal is to eliminate any ambiguity from the request so that it can receive a proper review at the CAB and, if approved, it can be developed to exactly meet the user's expectations.
