Experimental Activity Homework

This is a three-part Experimental Activity Homework. You will read chapters from the book Getting To YES by Fisher & Ury and answer a set of questions based on the case study entitled, "A Team In Trouble." You will use primarily concepts from your book, Getting To Yes, to answer the questions. However, you may also use Crucial Confrontations... to enhance the quality of your answers. You should respond with short, detailed, and comprehensive answers. Length of answers will depend on your ability to demonstrate in a concise manner your grasp of the material. The purpose of this homework is to measure students' ability to analyze, comprehend and apply their understanding of the material in a strategic manner. Once the homework is complete you will have created a sample "Move to Action Plan". Each part of the homework is worth 10 points.

A TEAM IN TROUBLE

Part A

This short case describes a situation that can often be found with student teams. Students on this team have different personalities, interests, skills, and goals. Your role is to be a coach for the team, helping them to resolve their conflict and become more effective.

c. How will you decide what to confront (CPR)?

d. What steps will you take to manage the conflict?

Part B

This short case describes a situation that can often be found with student teams. Students on this team have different personalities, interests, skills, and goals. Your role is to be a coach for the team, helping them to resolve their conflict and become more effective.

Answer these questions:

a. Invent options for mutual gain for all parties involved, and for each option explain the potential benefits and risks.

b. How will you create a safe environment?

c. How will you get all parties to participate in a brainstorming session to resolve their differences, and what are the possible results of a brainstorming session?

d. What are some of your objective criteria?

Part C

This short case describes a situation that can often be found with student teams. Students on this team have different personalities, interests, skills, and goals. Your role is to be a coach for the team, helping them to resolve their conflict and become more effective.

Answer these questions:

a. If all else fails what will be your alternative plan?
b. What course of action will you take if you can't get all parties to cooperate?
c. Once you get all parties back on track and focused, what will be the final resolution?
d. What will be the follow-up plan?

Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:

a. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

b. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

c. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
