Problem
Read (or listen to, if you prefer) Ch. 1 of Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Then please write a ~200 word response regarding the chapter and the film we watched in class, Reel Injun. Post your response before class on W 5/16.
Possible questions to answer:
What are some of the stereotypes of native people? How have those stereotypes affected indigeneity, society, and media and art (film)? How does the film enact social justice? How does the film interact with Freire's arguments about oppression (ie. the oppressed and the oppressors, false generosity, power, dehumanization, colonization, exploitation, violence, class, race, culture, appropriation, solidarity, liberation, etc.))? What questions do you have about the reading and/or film? Any remaining thoughts?
