Discussion Post: American National Government Presidency Assignment
• During times of domestic crisis or war, Presidents have exercised extra-legal powers to achieve their objectives. This tendency has led many Political Scientists to refer to them as "Imperial Presidents". Select any of the presidents that you believe have gone beyond their constitutional powers and explain the historical circumstances and what that president actually did. Your essay should average eight full paragraphs. For extra credit, the assignment could be presented in powerpoint format, you could cut and paste from the web, pictures, graphs, charts, statistics, etc.
• Watch one video or television documentary on any President and write a three-paragraph summary. You can use the video on Abraham Lincoln or go to Films on Demand to find a documentary on another President.
• Explain the process of impeachment giving historical examples. What are some of the current charges against President Trump also give three observations about his presidency. This essay should average four paragraphs.
The response must include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, double-space, Times New Roman 12 pnt font and APA style of writing and citations.
