What are some more common theories in sociology that can

Respond to the following discussions (5X). Write how you would respond to their discussions with approximately 100 words or more each. Be thoughtful and insightful and it must demonstrate critical thinking and analysis.

1. You bring up the cycle between theory and research. This is a good way to look at it. As a theory is developed it is in constant evolution as aspects of the theory are questioned and tested.

This lead to the research which brings even more questions. As more information is gathered it can and likely will alter the theory. The Cycle as you called causes evolution of the theory. This was a good comparison and it makes great sense. Thank, you.

2. What are some more common theories in sociology that can help ground your work? Any thoughts anyone?

3. I concur with you that for the most part that theory and hypothesis do cycle around each other, both need each other to successfully come to a a result after data is collected. I think the hardest part of coming up to a research proposal is hoping enough information is available in a subject one is interested in.

Coming up with the appropriate hypothesis in planning a research paper is crucial because the hypothesis is what essentially will lead to the main body and points to a research paper. The example you chose on HIV is a great example how a theory can save lives by thorough research.

4. Topic:Crime and Mental Illness

The topic you chose I think will be very promising one because of how much recent information there is about mental illness and crime. There is still a notion I feel like that most of the public feel that there should be no excuses when it comes to criminals and them committing crime.

That fact that the society is starting to recognize the importance of mental health will make law enforcement officials, courts, and prisons consider that criminals are subject to behavior because of mental illness. There are some ethical issues to be considered with your paper but I think you;ll be able to properly conduct your research without breaking any ethical boundaries.

5. Police corruption is what I will be my research topic on. I want to discover the various traits that what leads to a police betraying the trust of the public they serve. There is no ethical issues associated with this subject, where I won't be asking intrusive questions to any law enforcement officials if I choose to do an interview.

This subject matter is an observation that I will look into the theories associated with police corruption. Other than the economic gains with police corruption I want to research the psychological factors in police officers committing corruption, what becomes their motivation?

The ethical side of this matter is interesting to me because of what I specifically tend to research by not hurting the character of my subject matter, "the subject may begin questioning his or her own morality, and that personal concern may last long after the research has been reported" (Babbie, 2017). Even though police corruption has is an oversight issue politically, I don't believe my research will have any political implications.
